Meet Nia
Nia is a dedicated full-spectrum doula who embarked on her journey in October 2021 with a mission to support mothers during one of the most transformative times of their lives. For Nia, being a doula is not just about providing physical support during childbirth—it’s about helping mothers feel confident, prepared, and empowered as they step into motherhood. She believes that by equipping women with the right knowledge, tools, and resources, they can navigate this transition with strength and grace.
Nia’s philosophy, "Nurture the mother, elevate the community," reflects her deep belief that mothers are the cornerstone of society. When a mother is healthy, supported, and nurtured, she can raise a child who is also healthy and supported, ultimately contributing to the well-being of the entire community. Nia views her role as a doula as an integral part of this healing process, offering care that honors the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.
In her work, Nia emphasizes the importance of reconnecting families with the traditions that have long supported women through childbirth and postpartum. These practices, passed down through generations, help prepare the mother not just physically, but also mentally and emotionally for the journey ahead.
Beyond her doula work, Nia is a babywearing consultant and childbirth educator, committed to empowering parents with practical knowledge. She has completed two herbalism trainings and continues to deepen her understanding of natural healing practices. Nia is also certified as a community breastfeeding educator, providing compassionate support to mothers navigating the breastfeeding journey.
Her dedication to birth work extends to her training as a midwife’s assistant with Black Sisters Birth Academy, where she earned her Phase #1 Certification. She gained hands-on clinical experience under the mentorship of Nar from Protector of the Womb and Mama Sarahn from Birth in the Tradition. In August 2024, Nia furthered her education and answered the call of midwifery by beginning her studies at an accredited midwifery school.
Through her holistic approach, Nia is committed to creating a positive and nurturing environment for every mother she works with, ensuring they feel supported and empowered as they welcome new life into the world.
When she isn't on call, Nia loves spending time with her husband, reading, listening to true crime podcasts, and enjoying delicious food. Most of all, she is a proud cat mom of 2 years to Onyx, her sweet and antisocial fur baby.
